Emily Chilko, LICSW, AADC

Director of the Well + Clinical Therapist

Emily believes anything is possible.

Background

As the daughter of a WVU professor, Emily was born and raised in Morgantown, WV. As a young woman, she adventured on the west coast, completing a bachelor's degree in Psychology + Communications from the University of Washington in Seattle.

In one hand, Emily holds a deep love for the state of West Virginia. In the other hand, she holds an awareness of the state's significant historical and systemic challenges to wellness of all kinds. This led her to complete her master's degree in social work at WVU, and led her to dedicate the first chapter of her career to addiction treatment at WVU Medicine. She opened the Well in the spring of 2022 to make her own wellness a priority.

Therapy Approaches

The heart of Emily's practice is Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapy model that helps people get in touch with all parts of themselves in order to resolve inner conflicts, find clarity and self-compassion, and free themselves from burdens from the past. She completed her Level 1 IFS training in November 2022.

IFS is useful with a wide variety of clients and Emily is open to working with any client who has a desire to change and a willingness to work for it. The clients she most enjoys working with include clients who are experiencing addictions, anger, relationship stressors, or stressors that stem from systemic injustice/exclusion.
